The Lady Hawks have the most wins of any collegiate bowling team in the nation and have defeated just about every team in the country at least once this season.
Because of that and their dominating performance at the Holiday Bowl Collegiate Classic they have maintained their second place ranking in the latest national poll conducted by the National Tenpins Coaches Association (NTCA).
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) also received four first place votes, second only to #1 Nebraska and a total of 568 points, just 54 points out of first place.
UMES (104-23) posted the best overall record at the Holiday Bowl Collegiate Classic, defeating #1 Nebraska and #3 Vanderbilt along the way. They set a school record for wins at the event. They finished third overall on pin fall but the 9-1 record was a boost for the team.
"It was great to have that kind of outing," said Head Coach Sharon Brummell. "And to be ranked #2 in the nation and then maintain that ranking is quite an honor. We hope to maintain this momentum going into the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC)Championships and then into the NCAA Championships."
UMES heads to Hampton, Va. on March 21-23 to contend for their third straight and fourth overall MEAC Title.
