Palmer Leads Lady Hornets Past Bears

 Katreem Palmer scored a season high 20 points to lead
Delaware State to a 66-49 win over Morgan State in MEAC women’s basketball Saturday.

The Lady Hornets won their third straight to improve to 16-13 overall and 11-4 in the MEAC. DSU moved into sole possession of third place in the MEAC standings behind North Carolina A&T (14-0) and Coppin State
(12-3).

The loss snapped a seven-game win streak for Morgan State, which fell to 18-10 and 10-5.

Ashlee Burbage came off the bench to add 11 points
for the Lady Hornets. Palmer also led Delaware State with nine rebounds.

The Lady Hornets held a 52-37 rebound advantage. Corin Adams was high scorer for Morgan State with 13 points. Britney Griffin added 10 points and a game high 11 rebounds for the Bears.

Delaware State led 33-29 at the half, and opened
up a 43-33 lead on a free throw by Selena Galloway with 13:01 left to play.

Morgan State pulled to within 53-47 after a lay up by Danielle Scott with 5:26 remaining.

The Lady Hornets outscored the Bears 13-2 the rest of the
way.

Palmer scored seven points and Burbage four in the last five minutes.

Delaware State will host Maryland Eastern Shore in its regular season finale on Thursday (Mar. 6).
