University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s April McBride was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Teammate Chena Parker earned Rookie of the Week honors, while North Carolina A&T’s Lamona Smalley earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
McBride (Forward, 6-1, So., New Rochelle, New York) averaged a double-double of 21.5 points and 12 rebounds in two victories for the Lady Hawks last week. McBride shot 58 percent, on 18-of-31 from the floor, and 50 percent beyond the arc (3-of-6). Against Norfolk State, McBride posted her tenth double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds. She followed with a career-high 27 points and 11 rebounds in a 74-54 win over Florida A&M. This is the third time this season that McBride has earned Player of the Week accolades.
Parker (Center, 6-3, Fr., Poughkeepsie, New York) shot 86 percent from the floor (12-of-14) en route to 26 points and 19 rebounds to help the Lady Hawks to a 2-0 mark last week. Parker was a perfect (4-of-4) from the floor in an 84-65 win against Norfolk State with eight points and six rebounds. She posted a double-double against Florida A&M with 18 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. This is the second time this season that Parker has won Rookie of the Week accolades.
Smalley (Forward, 6-0, So., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) averaged 13 rebounds (7.5 defensive), 2.0 blocks and 2.5 steals to extend the Aggies win streak to 13 games. In a 73-58 win over Delaware State, Smalley grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds (11 defensive) and blocked two shots. In the two games, North Carolina A&T held their opponents to 47 points or less. This is the second time this season that Smalley has earned Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Danielle Anders (CSU) tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds against Florida A&M.
Rachel Butler (Ham) was 7-of-13 from the floor with 21 points and 13 rebounds in a 63-60 loss to Coppin State.
Theresa Davis (MSU) posted eight points, 10 rebounds and three steals in Morgan State’s overtime win over Bethune-Cookman.
Shalamar Oakley (CSU) averaged 22 points and 6.5 rebounds to help the Lady Eagles extend their win streak to five last week with wins over Florida A&M and Hampton.
Marie Reid (SCSU) scored a career-high 31 points in a 106-78 win over Howard.
Jalessa Sams (NCAT) posted 18 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Delaware State.
Denise Tate (FAMU) averaged 10.5 rebounds in two games last week, including 13 rebounds in a loss to Coppin State.
