Coppin State guard Tywain McKee was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announce Monday. South Carolina State’s Carrio Bennett was named the Rookie of the Week while Morgan State’s Boubacar Coly was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week.
McKee (G, 6-2, 182, Sr., Philadelphia, Pa.) averaged 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds as the Eagles extended their win streak to six with victories over Florida A&M and Hampton. He posted his second double-double of the season with 19 points and 12 rebounds against the Pirates. He shot 48 percent from the field and 36 percent from long range to go along with eight assists and three steals in the two wins.
Bennett (G, 6-1, 155, Fr., Greenville, SC) helped the Bulldogs to wins over Howard and Norfolk State averaging 11.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and three assists in the two contests. He connected on 50 percent (8-of-16) of his baskets and made over half his baskets (6-of-11) from 3-point range. Against Howard he recorded 14 points, seven rebounds and three assist while shooting 5-of-9 from the floor and 4-of-6 from behind the arc.
This is Bennett’s third Rookie of the Week honor.
Coly (C, 6-9, 220, Sr., Ziguinchor, Senegal) posted another solid defensive performance last week aiding the Bears to a 2-0 finish while regaining the league’s top spot in conference standings. Against Bethune-Cookman Coly notched his league-leading seventh double-double performance with 10 points and 14 rebounds. He followed with 14 rebounds against Howard. He also blocked six shots and stole two passes in the two games. This is Coly’s second consecutive and eight overall MEAC defensive weekly honors.

Marc Davis (UMES) averaged 16 points and four assist in two games last week for the Hawks.
Jason Flagler (SCSU) posted his third double-double of the season with 21 points (10-of-12) and 13 rebounds with six assists in a 97-86 win over Norfolk State.
Larry Jackson (FAMU) scored a career high 24 points (6-of-11) with three blocks in a 62-60 win over Maryland E. Shore.
Jason Johnson (SCSU) totaled 13 rebounds and three blocks in two wins last week for the Bulldogs.
Marquise Kately (MSU) averaged 14.5 points and seven rebounds to lead the Bears to a 2-0 mark in conference play last week.
Tony Murphy (NSU) averaged 24 points, four rebounds and 2.5 steals as the Spartans finish 1-1 last week.
BJ Nimocks (UMES) tallied 11 rebounds against NSU followed by eight boards against FAMU in two MEAC contests last week.
Leslie Robinson (FAMU) averaged 19 points in two outings last week for the Rattlers.
Vincent Simpson (HAM) scored 16 points (6-of-9) in a win over Winston-Salem State.
Theo Smalling (HAM) averaged 11 rebounds and 1.5 blocks to aid the Pirates to a 1-1 finish last week.
Ed Tyson (UMES) averaged 21.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and two steals in games against Norfolk State and Florida A&M last week.
