Danielle Anders scored a career-high 20 points and Coppin State
survived two game-tying field goal attempts as the Eagles defeated Delaware State 60-57 in MEAC action on Saturday in the Coppin Center.

Shalamar Oakley made two free throws with 15 seconds remaining to increase the Coppin State lead to 60-57.

After a Delaware State timeout, Raquel Collier and Keyhana Wakefield each missed three-point attempts and Collier missed a short jumper at the buzzer.

Coppin State (11-10, 6-2 MEAC) ran its current winning streak to five games and also posted its fifth-consecutive victory over Delaware State.

The Eagles, who also received 12 points from Rashida Suber, limited Delaware State to 33.9 percent shooting from the floor for the game.

Anders finished the game 7-of-14 from the floor and 6-of-6 from the free throw line. She also added seven rebounds, one block and a steal.

Shalamar Oakley had six points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals and Whitney Cunningham and Jennifer Martin each had eight points and seven rebounds.

The first half featured seven ties and nine lead changes.

Coppin State used a late 7-1 run to take a 30-24 lead with 3:32 to play in the opening period.

Delaware State (9-11, 4-2 MEAC) answered with a 6-0 run to tie the score at 30-30 with 1:54 left.

The Eagles took a 34-33 lead into the intermission.

After Wakefield connected on a three-pointer with 16:37 left in the game which tied the contest at 40-40 the Eagles responded with a 12-2 run.

Suber scored six points during the run and her jumper gave the Eagles a
52-42 lead with 9:53 to play.

Delaware State would not go away and Selena Galloway capped a 12-4 run that
cut the lead to 56-54 with 3:31 left.

Anders hit a jumper to up the lead back to four points with 1:40 remaining.

Thea Littlepage hit one of two free throws and Wakefield made a pair, which cut the margin to 58-57 with 16 seconds to play.
