Hawks Roll To 9-1 Mark In Final MEAC North Match-Up

Maryland Eastern Shore posted a 9-1 mark at the final northern division match-up, the best at the event, but the one loss came to no. 9 Delaware State University (DSU) last weekend in the event hosted by Morgan State.  

 

On the first day of the event the Lady Hawks rattled off four straight wins, topping Morgan State (980-766), Howard (1009-744), Hampton (920-875) and Coppin State (846-747).  Their lone hiccup followed with the loss to DSU 930-981.

 

In those head to head match-ups the Hawk stars shone brightly.  Maria Rodriguez posted 1009 pins over five games for an average of just under a 202.  Also sharp was the reigning national rookie of the year, Kristina Frahm who tallied a 976 over her five games, an average of 195. Senior Jamie Culbreth also bowled well with an average of 185 and 921 total pins.

 

Rodriguez rolled the high game of the day with a 240, while Frahm had a 226.  The Hawks rolled nine games over 200 with Frahm, Culbreth, Rodriguez and Sara DiScioscia each accounting for two while Martha Perez posted a 211.

 

On day two UMES would quickly rebound from their loss, going 5-0 with wins over Howard (822-649), Morgan State (730-712), Hampton (813-656), #9 Delaware State (739-726) and Coppin State (745-597).

 

The Hawks are off until January 16-18 when they travel to the Mid-Winter Classic in Little Rock, Ark.
