South Carolina State University’s Marie Reid was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. Teammate LaTeia Brailey earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Delaware State University’s Jameka Smith earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Marie Reid (Center, 6-4, Sr., Augusta, Georgia) shot 70-percent from the field (7-of-10) and posted 15 points in a 56-64 loss to Florida International. The center added seven rebounds, one block, one steal and one assist in the loss.
Brailey (Guard, 5-4, Fr., Orangeburg, South Carolina) recorded six points, one rebound, two assists and one steal in a loss to Florida International.
Smith (Guard, 5-10, Sr., Woodbridge, Virginia) tallied four steals and three rebounds in a 61-38 victory over Northeastern. Smith helped the Lady Hornets hold Northeastern to only 14 second half points, while forcing 20 turnovers. Offensively, she added eight points (3-of-4) and one assist. This is the second consecutive week that Smith has earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Selena Galloway (DSU) recorded 14 points (5-of-8), one rebound and three assists in a 61-38 win over Northeastern.
