SC State Suffers 90-63 Loss to Clemson

 

CLEMSON, SC?The South Carolina State Bulldogs suffered a tough 90-63 loss to ACC foe Clemson University on Saturday in a non-conference matchup at Littlejohn Coliseum.

The first-half was all Clemson jumping out to a 16 point lead, 33-17 on a 3-pointer by sophomore guard Terrence Oglesby at the 8:49 mark. The Tigers would then extend that lead to 25, 45-20 on a jumper by senior guard K.C. Rivers with 3:11 left in the half.

A pair of free-throws by junior center Trevor Booker gave the Tigers a 47-23 advantage heading into halftime.

“I thought we got off to a slow start today.” said SC State coach Tim Carter “Give Clemson credit it’s a reason why they are 10-0. They are a very well coached team and play hard on both ends of the ball.”

The Tigers controlled the second-half building their biggest lead of the day 27 to come away with the victory. With the win Clemson maintain their undefeated record, while SC State falls to 5-4 overall.

Leading the way for SC State was junior guard/forward Jason Flagler with 17 points, while sophomore guard Westley Telfare added 13 in the loss.

The Tigers were led by senior guard K.C. Rivers with 19 points, and Trevor Booker added 18. Sophomore guard Terrence Oglesby chipped in 14 in the victory.

SC State will return to action on Wednesday when they face the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. The Bulldogs defeated The Vandals 66-69 (Dec 6.) on the first of a home and home series. Tip-off for this non-conference matchup is 7:05 p.m. (EST).
