Florida A&M Tops Bethune-Cookman, 3-1

Florida A&M Head Volleyball Coach Tanio “Tony” Trifonov picked up his 250th career as the Lady Rattlers defeated arch rival Bethune-Cookman 3-1 (27-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-16), Tuesday night at Gaither Gymnasium.

FAMU (11-11, 7-1 MEAC) held B-CU to a .243 hitting percentage as they collected 45 kills in 115 total attacks.

The Lady Rattlers were led by Samara Ferraz with a career high 29 kills.  Jovana Blazeski finished with 16 kills, followed by Susan Egoavil with 14.  Susan Egoavil led FAMU in assists with 58, while Blazeski finished with a team high 16 digs.

B-CU (8-14, 3-4 MEAC) was paced by Chelle Ticeson with a 10 kills.  Julie Gibson finished with a  team 22 assists, while Daryl Rodriguez finished with 15.  Shakhea Moore-Hagins finished with a game high 16 digs.

Up next for the Lady Rattlers will be the 2008 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament, hosted by Hampton University in Hampton, Va., from Nov. 14 through Nov. 16.
