Delaware State University junior Cassandra Joyner was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. University of Maryland Eastern Shore freshman Christine Edwards earned Rookie of the Week accolades.
Joyner (OH/MB, 6-0, Jr., Claymont, Delaware) guided her team to a 3-0 record last week. Joyner was 50-of-101 from the floor (36-percent) while posting three assists in the victories. Defensively, the middle blocker contributed seven blocks (three solo) and 28 digs. In a win over Coppin State, Joyner hit a season-high 67-percent from the floor on 15-of-21 total attacks.
Edwards (OH, 5-10 Fr., Lakewood, California) hit 29-percent from the floor (15-of-28) and recorded two blocks and four aces in wins against Coppin State and Howard last week. Edwards’ performances helped the Lady Hawks post an undefeated mark in conference play (10-0) for the second straight year.

Breanna Allums (NSU) posted a match-high 17 kills while hitting 72-percent from the field in a non-conference win against Winston-Salem State.
Christina Estebane’ (UMES) hit 67-percent from the floor (4-of-6) with 27 assists and seven aces in a 3-0 sweep of Coppin State.
Julie Gibson (B-CU) led the Lady Wildcats with 13 kills, 66 assists and 16 digs in two matches.
Jarne’ Gleaton (SCSU) posted a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs in a loss to North Carolina A&T.
Elisa Hermann (DSU) recorded a double-double of 12 kills and 17 digs in a 3-2 win over Morgan State.
Shabree Roberson (SCSU) was 10-of-12 from the floor (.750) in a loss to North Carolina A&T.
Adriana Vazquez (HAM) posted 14 kills, six digs and one block in a 3-2 victory against Morgan State.
