The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) will host a food drive benefiting the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia during its 2008 MEAC Volleyball Championship tournament, November 14-16 at Hampton (Va.) University.

“We encourage all of our fans and supporters to donate to a worthwhile cause, such as the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia,” said MEAC Commissioner Dennis Thomas.  “The MEAC and its member institutions are committed to being involved in our local communities and to assist in any productive way we can.”

“We appreciate the support that the MEAC will provide during their volleyball championship,” said Marianne Smith, Chief Development Officer of the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia.  “The donations will truly make a difference in the lives of someone who is hungry and will meet an incredible need in the Hampton Roads area.”

To show support, the MEAC asks fans to donate non-perishable items during their entry into the volleyball championship tournament. Proceeds from the food drive will benefit the community within the Hampton Roads (Va.) area.  For more information on the food drive, please visit www.MEACsports.com  or www.foodbankonline.org.
