MEAC ANNOUNCES VOLLEYBALL WEEKLY HONORS

Delaware State University junior Cassandra Joyner was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Teammate Elisa Hermann earned Rookie of the Week accolades. 

 

Joyner (OH/MB, 6-0, Jr., Claymont, Delaware) led the Lady Hornets to a 3-2 victory over New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). Joyner hit 34-percent from the floor on 22-of-44 total attacks. The outside hitter recorded a double-double of 22 kills and 21 digs along with six blocks (three solo) in the win. This is the second time this season that Joyner has earned Player of the Week accolades.

 

 

Hermann (MB, 6-2, Fr., Andernach, Germany) recorded a double-double of 10 kills and 14 digs to help the Lady Hornets to a win over NJIT. Hermann added three blocks, two aces and one assist in the victory.

 

 

Other Top Performers:

 

Brittany Arvin (CSU) hit 45-percent from the floor on 16-of-29 attempts and tallied five blocks and seven digs in a loss against North Carolina Central.

 

Yolanda Roberts (NSU) recorded a double-double of 17 kills and 15 digs in a win over Hampton.
