Norfolk State University’s Jennifer Chichester and Jonathan Soimo were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Chichester (So., Silver Spring, Maryland) won the individual title at the 2008 Spartan Invitational, completing the 5K course in 18:49.00. The sophomore helped her team capture its first win of the season while recording a season-best 33 points. This is Chichester’s third MEAC weekly honor this season.
Soimo (Jr., Kapsabet, Kenya) ran a season-best 25:31.00 to earn the individual title and help his team to first place tie with Virginia Wesleyan at the Spartan Invitational. Soimo’s time is the fastest time in the MEAC on an 8K course this season.

Merrecia James (UMES) led the Lady Hawks to a fourth place finish at the Towson Invitational with at time of 18:43.00.
Krystle Medlin (Ham) paced her team with a time of 19:29.91 to finish second at the Spartan Invitational.
Mallory Ross (DSU) ran a season-best time of 19:20.00 at the Towson Invitational.
Peter Sang (UMES) led UMES to a fourth place finish with a time of 26:51 at the Towson Invitational.
Kelly Thibou (DSU) ran a season-best time of 28:05 at the Towson Invitational.
Bruce Thompson (HAM) finished among the top ten with a time of 27:46.25 at the Spartan Invitational.
