University of Maryland Eastern Shore junior Whitney Johnson was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Teammate Christine Edwards earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Johnson (OH/MB 6-3, Jr., Prince Frederick, Maryland) tallied 18 kills on 29 total attempts, while hitting 51-percent from the field to lead the Lady Hawks to a 2-0 conference mark and extend their current win streak to 10 matches. The outside hitter also recorded two total blocks and two digs in the victories. This is Johnson’s second Player of the Week honor this season.
Edwards (OH, 5-10, Fr., Lakewood, California) averaged 15.5 kills and 4.5 digs in two wins for the Lady Hawks. Edwards hit 42-percent from the field (31-of 49) and added five total blocks and two aces in the victories. This is Edwards’ third Rookie of the Week honor this season.

Mianna Armstrong (Ham) recorded two double-doubles last week including 10 kills and 11 digs against Navy and 17 kills and 11 digs in a win over Coppin State.
Angie Clewis (NSU) totaled 20 kills, seven digs and four total blocks to help the Spartans to a 1-1 mark.
Ivanti Bush (MSU) averaged 8.5 kills and 5.5 digs for the Lady Bears in two matches last week.
Gazelle D’Artois (How) combined for 21 kills and 12 digs to help Howard to a 2-0 conference start.
Jarne Gleaton (SCSU) posted 23 kills in a 3-2 loss to Bethune-Cookman.
Aaryn Harrison (Ham) recorded 41 kills and 12 digs in three matches for the Lady Pirates last week.
Elisa Herrmann (DSU) hit 41-percent from the field while tallying 18 kills, 10 assists and four blocks in two matches.
Cassandra Joyner (DSU) aided the Lady Hornets to a 1-1 mark against conference opponents with 26 kills and 12 digs.
Peri Ligons (SCSU) tallied a double-double of 10 kills and 11 digs in a 3-2 loss to Bethune-Cookman.
Gabrielle Martin (How) helped Howard to a 2-0 MEAC start with 22 kills and eight digs in seven sets played last week.
Christa Rogers (MSU) registered 26 assists, four kills and two digs in a loss to Howard.
