University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Merrecia James and Howard University’s Thurman Sanders were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
James (Sr., Portland, Jamaica) earned a fifth place finish with a time of 18:59.95 at last weekend’s Blue Hen Classic, hosted by the University of Delaware. James time was the highest finish of a MEAC performer in the event and helped her team score 134 points.
Sanders (So., Antoich, California) completed the 8K race at the Blue Hen Classic, hosted by the University of Delaware with a time of 26.47.23. His time was just shy of a top ten finish and helped his team finish seventh among the nine competing schools.
Other Top Performers:
Bryan Brown (HAM) paced the Pirates at the William & Mary Tribe Open with a time of 29:42.00.
Ashley Hodges (HOW) earned a 15th place finish for the Lady Bison with a time of 19:36.93.
Mallory Ross (DSU) was the top finisher for the Lady Hornets with a time of 19:34.21 at the Blue Hen Classic.
Kelly Thibou (DSU) led the Hornets to a sixth place finish at the Blue Hen Classic with a time of 27:23.25.
