James Madison Defeats NSU Volleyball, 3-0

Lindsay Callahan had match-highs of 14 kills and seven digs to help the James Madison volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Norfolk State on Tuesday night at Gill Gym. The Dukes took the match 25-19, 25-20, 25-18.

 

NSU (7-20) kept it close in each of the three sets, but could not overcome JMU’s accurate hitting. The Dukes (11-13) hit .337 as a team for the match and above .200 in each of the three sets, with a match-high of .435 in set 3. The Spartans hit .191 for the match, but did manage a .414 hitting percentage in the second set.

 

Lauren Miles led all players with 20 assists and added three kills, two service aces and two digs for JMU.

 

For the Spartans, freshman Elayne Greer had 10 kills and two digs. Junior Solange Honore and freshman Nicole Kessner each had 13 assists.

 

The Spartans have a quick turnaround as the travel to Orangeburg, S.C. for a MEAC match against South Carolina State at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
