Norfolk State University’s Jennifer Chichester and University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Peter Sang were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Thursday.
Chichester (So., Silver Spring, Maryland) won the individual title and set a new course record with a time of 17:59.00 at the UMES Hawk Challenge. The win marked the second straight week that the sophomore captured an individual title. This is Chichester’s fourth MEAC weekly honor this season.
Sang (So., Kapsabet, Kenya) captured the individual title at the UMES Hawk Challenge and helped his team to a second place finish with a time of 25:24.77. Sang’s time on the 8K course is the fastest time in the MEAC this season.
Other Top Performers:
Daniel Edmund (Ham) paced the Pirates to a fourth place finish with a time of 27:38.18.
Merrecia James (UMES) aided the Lady Hawks in their first place finish at the UMES Hawk Challenge with at time of 18:19.99.
Dominic Luca (NSU) ran a season-best time of 25:32 to finish third at the UMES Hawk Challenge.
Krystle Medlin (Ham) led the Lady Pirates to a third place finish at the UMES Hawk Challenge with a time of 18:34.58
