Morgan State’s Jamar Smith was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Maryland E. Shore’s Marc Davis was named the Rookie of the Week while Morgan State’s Boubacar Coly was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week.
Smith (G, 6-3, 210, Sr., Brooklyn Park, Minn.) scored 19 of his career and game-high 28 points in the second half as the Bears pushed Big East opponent Seton Hall to the limit before falling 89-81. Smith, who celebrated his 23rd birthday, also finished the game by matching a career-best 12 rebounds while connecting on 11-of-12 free-throws.
Davis (G, 5-10, 175, Fr., Baltimore, Md.) recorded 11 points and six rebounds in the Hawks matchup against Nebraska. He also posted three assists in the game.
Coly (C, 6-8, 220, Sr., Ziguinchor, Senegal) tallied a game-high 13 rebounds, 10 defensive, against Seton Hall. Two points shy of a double-double, Coly posted eight points and blocked two shots in the matchup. This is Coly’s second consecutive MEAC defensive weekly honor.

Roy Bright (DSU) fell one rebound shy of a double-double performance with 24 points and nine rebounds against Seton Hall.
Ed Tyson (UMES) posted 16 points, including 3-of-5 from behind the arc, in the Hawks non-conference loss to Nebraska.
B.J. Nimocks (UMES) pulled down nine rebounds against Nebraska.
Leslie Robinson (FAMU) scored 22 points, including six three-pointers, in the Rattlers victory over Warner Southern.
