Corin Adams recorded 25 points, seven assists and six steals, all game-highs and Shalane Price added 10 points, as Morgan State held off the Lady Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman, 54-52, in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game on Monday evening at Hill Field House.
Morgan State, which led by as much as 15 points (45-30), following a layup by Brittany Dodson with 13:15 left in the contest, watched visiting Bethune-Cookman go on a 22-9 run capped off by a free throw by Ariana Bryant to pull the guests within 54-52 with 3:35 remaining in the game.
That would be the final points of the contest, as Morgan State held on for the two point victory, its third straight this season and seventh consecutive homecourt win dating back to last season.
Morgan State shot 32.8 percent (22-of-67) from the field, including 6-of-29 (20.7 percent) from three-point range, while Bethune-Cookman finished 16-of-47 (34 percent) from the field and 6-of-18 (33 percent) from behind the arc. The Lady Bears, who outrebounded the guests (45-40), got a team-high 10 rebounds from Britney Griffin and Adams added six boards.
Demetria Frank led the Lady Wildcats with a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds. Keturah Newkirk added 12 points and Sarah Bolden finished with 11 for Bethune-Cookman, which dropped its sixth consecutive game.
Morgan State returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 26, when its take on Howard in a MEAC game at Burr Gymnasium in Washington, D.C. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
