Hawks Capture Eight Wins In MEAC Divisional Match

 The #3 Lady Hawks from Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) picked up eight wins to just one loss in a MEAC Northern Division match, improving their overall record to 59-13 and 24-3 in MEAC play.

The Hawks’ lone loss came in the head to head matches to # 10 Delaware State. DSU has gotten the better of the Hawks three times in MEAC play, accounting for all of their conference losses. UMES has topped DSU three times as well, but only twice in the league schedule. They fell to the Hornets in the second match of the first day, 850-824.

UMES did pick up four wins on the first day, topping Howard (880-801), Hampton (844-750), Morgan State (953-856) and Coppin State (864-629).

UMES accounted for only three games over 200 with All-American Laura Zanrucha rolling the highest game at 223 while Martha Perez, who did bowl all five games, averaging an 186.2, posted a 206. Both of those 200 games were against Coppin State. Jessica Worsley also posted a plus 200 game with a 203 against Morgan State.

In baker action UMES got revenge on Delaware State with a 767-717 win while also picking up “Ws” against Howard (735-693), Morgan State (727-668) and Hampton (705-688).

UMES is in action this weekend traveling to Bowie State for the Lady Bulldogs Classic.
