B-CU Cross Country Opens 2007 Season at Florida Tech

Bethune-Cookman cross country opened up the 2007 campaign on over the weekend with a third place finish on the women’s side in the Florida Tech Invitational at Wickham Park in Melbourne, Fla.

Newcomer Alexandria Condell collected an All-Tournament finish as she finished seventh overall in the event on Saturday, as well as leading the Wildcats with a time of 20:37 in the event. She was followed up by teammate Joy Henry who timed-out with a mark of 23:59 and a 15th place finish in the event.

Head coach Garfield Ellenwood was pleased with the entire team’s performance as the ?Cats never placed above eighth in an event all of last year. The third place finish is the highest under second-year head coach Ellenwood.

Also having a strong performance for the women was newcomers Tanekia Flowers (24:22) and Deandrea Laing (26:13) to round-out the scoring for Bethune-Cookman.

On the men’s side of things, the Wildcats of B-CU had just three (3) student-athletes competing, so they were unable to score in the event. But showing out with strong performances for the maroon and gold were Kyle Dillet and freshman Joel Redhead. Dillet finished with a time of 30:09 to lead the Wildcats, while Redhead ended with a time of 32:17.

B-CU returning leader Harold Rose, Jr. finished up in 31st place with a time of 32:47 overall.
