Walker was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC)
Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Teammate Jarne Gleaton was named Rookie of the Week.
Walker (5-11, Sr., Clovis, New Mexico) averaged 3.4 kills and 3.5 digs
and posted four double-doubles to help the Lady Bulldogs to a 3-3 mark
last week, including a 3-2 record at the Hampton University Tiny Laster
Memorial Tournament. The middle blocker was named to the All-Tournament
team after recording six aces, 19 total blocks and a hitting average of
.333 in five matches and 22 games played last week.
Gleaton (6-0, Fr., West Columbia, South Carolina) helped S. C. State to
a runner-up finish at the Hampton University Tiny Laster Memorial
Tournament with an average of 2.1 kills and 1.7 digs per game. The
outside hitter was named to the All-Tournament team after totaling 47
kills, 38 digs, 10 total blocks and 18 aces.
Other Top Performers:
Laura Huculak (DSU) tallied 101 assists in three matches including a season-high 44 against Evansville last weekend.
Whitney Johnson (UMES) posted a double-double of 22 kills and 11 digs in a win over Manhattan at the Manhattan Tournament.
Jeniqua Moran (MSU) totaled 32 kills, 13 digs and hit an average of
.277 in three matches and nine games at last weekend’s Gonzaga
Tournament.
