MEAC ANNOUNCES CROSS COUNTRY WEEKLY HONORS

Hampton University freshman Jahlisa Smith and University of Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore Peter Sang were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Smith (Fr., Plainfield, New Jersey) set a new course record and won the Maryland Eastern Shore Cappy Anderson Invite with a time of 18:07.09, which is the fastest time in the MEAC this season for a 5K run. This is the second consecutive week that Smith has earned cross country weekly honors.

Sang (So., Kapsabet, Kenya) led his team to a first place finish at the Maryland Eastern Shore Cappy Anderson Invite. Sang crossed the tape first out of 53 runners with a time of 25:51.06, running just over five minutes per mile in the 8K race.




Other Top Performers:

Alexandria Condell (B-CU) was the Lady Wildcats’ top finisher at the Smoothie King Classic with a time of 21:14.23.

Merrecia James (UMES) led the Lady Hawks to a first place team finish and fifth place individual finish with a time of 18:37.03 at the Maryland Eastern Shore Cappy Anderson Invite.

Rashad Burnett (NCAT) led the Aggies’ and finished second overall with a time of 28:06.3 at the Old North State Championships.
