FLORIDA A&M DROPS MERCER, 3-1

Florida A&M won their second match of the season against Mercer in a 3-1 decision, Wednesday night at the Gaither Athletic Center.

In game one, Mercer went on a 12-2 run to come from behind to win game one 31-29. FAMU would go one to win the next three games 30-19, 30-27 and 30-22.

The Lady Rattlers (2-5) were senior led by Iva Lakic with 27 kills, followed by freshman Jovana Blazeski with 16. Sophomore Zaira Manzo led the team in assists and digs with 52 and 10.

The Bears (2-11) were paced by Karren Dorris with 15 kills. Sisters Julie and Jen Darity, both finished with 10 kills apiece. Kelly Jansen dished out 39 digs. Both Dorris and Claire Tucker finished with 20 digs apiece.

FAMU will return to action against Bethune-Cookman in their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference home opener, broadcast live on ESPNU, on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.
