North Carolina A&T sophomore Rashad Burnett finished 11th in the Raleigh Cross Country Invitational to help the Aggie men to a fourth-place finish behind N.C. State, Wake Forest and East Carolina respectively.
The women placed eighth at the invitational.
Burnett finished the 5,000 meter race in 16:28, which was 38 seconds better than the time he posted in the same race a year ago when he finished 16th. Burnett has been the Aggies’ top finisher in six straight races dating back to last season.
Burnett received help from teammate’s sophomore Kavaughn Brown and junior Reggie McAfee. Brown and McAfee finished 24th and 25th respectively.
In the women’s race, sophomore Janee Cadlett was the top finisher in the 36th, followed by junior Tarell Taylor and (55th) and junior Christina Gray (61st).
The Aggie men’s and women’s cross country teams return to action next Saturday when they complete at the Guilford College Old North State Championship at Hagan Stone Park in Greensboro at 9 a.m.
