LADY RATTLERS SHUT OUT VCU, 3-0

Florida A&M picked up their first win of the season in a 3-0 (30-24, 30-26, 30-19) win over Virginia Commonweatlh in their second game of the Crowne Plaza / Phoenix Airport Classic at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempa, Ariz.

FAMU (1-4) was led by Jovanna Blazeski with 18 kills. Both Hannah Uckelmann and Iva Lakic finished with 10 kill apiece. Zaira Manzo led the team in assists with 33. Susan Egoavil led the team in digs with 17.

VCU (2-8) was paced by Ariel Newman with 10 kills. Jessica Ojukwu and Belinda Behncke-Biney, both with finished with six kills each. Cat Juson led the Rams in assists with 15, while Laryssa Goncalves finished with a game high 25 digs.

FAMU will take on Tulane in their final game of the Crowne Plaza / Phoenix Classic on Saturday, Sept. 15 at Noon.
