Whitney Johnson was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
(MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Florida A&M University’s Jovana Blazeski was named Rookie of the
Week.
Johnson (6-3, So., Prince Frederick, Maryland) recorded 26 kills and
eight digs while hitting an average of .438 in a win over Lafayette.
The outside hitter averaged 18.6 kills and 7.3 digs per match to help
the Lady Hawks to a 2-1 record at the Lafayette Tournament last week.
Johnson also recorded 3.5 total blocks (2 solo), one assist and one ace
during three matches played.
Blazeski (6-2, Fr., Belgrade, Serbia) averaged 5.2 kills and 3.1 digs
per game last week in matches against Clemson, Purdue and Furman. The
outside hitter recorded double-doubles against Clemson (20 kills, 10
digs) and Furman (23 kills, 15 digs).
Other Top Performers:
Esther Johnson (MSU) posted 24 kills and 23 digs against UNC-Greensboro.
Heather Quinn (NSU) hit a career-high .769 (10-of-13) with 10 kills and no errors against UNC-Wilmington.
Monique Walker (SCSU) recorded her sixth double-double of the season
with 13 kills and 11 digs in a win over Winston-Salem State.
