Free-Throws Lift Fairleigh Dickinson Over Delaware St.

 Jennifer Walking hit two free throws with 2.5 seconds left
to lift Fairleigh Dickinson to a 58-57 win over Delaware State at the Rothman Center Wednesday evening.

The Lady Hornets led 57-56 when Thea Littlepage was called for a foul on a Fairleigh Dickinson inbounds pass. Walking tied the game with her first free throw, then put the Knights ahead with the second. Delaware State hit just nine of 24 first half shots, and trailed 33-26 at the break. Fairleigh Dickinson led by as many as nine points in the second half before the Lady Hornets mounted a comeback.

Delaware State went on a 9-0 run, and took the lead for the
first time, 49-48, on a basket by Ashley Thompson. The Lady Hornets led
57-53 when a three-pointer pulled the Knights to within a point with 1:03 left to play.

Walking was the game’s high scorer with a career-high 25
points. She also led FDU with eight rebounds.

Raquel Collier was high scorer for the Lady Hornets with a season high 21 points. Collier was 10-for-19 from the field. Katreem Palmer was the only other Delaware State player in double figures with 11 points. Littlepage led all players with a season high 12 rebounds.

Delaware State fell to 3-4 on the season, while Fairleigh Dickinson improved to 2-5. The Lady Hornets are off until Dec. 17 when they will compete in the University of Alabama-Birmingham Tournament.
