Hampton guard Rashad West was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Bethune-Cookman’s Joey Woods was named the Rookie of the Week while Florida A&M’s Joe Ballard was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week.
West (Guard, 6-1, 175, Sr., Raleigh, NC) recorded his first double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds as he led the Pirates to a 55-48 win over non-conference opponent St. Bonaventure. West connected on 8-of-17 baskets including two three pointers as well as dished out four assists and one steal in the outing.
Woods (Guard, 6-2, 180, Fr., Naples, Fla.) scored eight points as he shot 50-percent from the field (3-of-6) to go along with a game-high eight assists as he helped the Wildcats increase their win streak to four. He also registered two steals while having just one turnover the entire game.
Ballard (Guard, 6-0, 190, Jr., Chicago, Ill.) posted seven steals as he aided the Rattlers to a 61-57 win over North Florida. In addition to 14 points on offense, Ballard grabbed five rebounds, two defensive, as the Rattlers remained undefeated at home to start the 2007-08 season.

John Holmes (B-CU) tallied 14 points and seven rebounds to lead the Wildcats to a 65-51 win over Southeastern.
Tobias Mahone (B-CU) pulled down eight rebounds and stole to passes in the Wildcats victory.
Leslie Robinson (FAMU) registered 18 points, hitting 3-of-7 baskets from behind the arc, as the Rattlers posted a 61-57 win over North Florida.
Adrian Woodard (HAM) scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds in the Pirates victory over St. Bonaventure.
