Lady Hawks, Lady Hornets Advance to Semifinal Round of MEAC Volleyball Tournament

#1 Maryland Eastern Shore v. #4 Norfolk State

Top northern seed Maryland Eastern Shore defeated number four south seed Norfolk State 3-0 in a quarterfinal match of the MEAC Volleyball championship tournament in Holland Hall on the campus of Hampton University. MEAC Player of the Year, Whitney Johnson and senior Holiday Eller led the Lady Hawks with 11 kills a piece. Senior Vanessa Faircloth was the top performer for Norfolk State with six kills, Yolanda Roberts tallied five digs for the defensive effort.

#2 North Carolina A&T v #3 Delaware State


Delaware State, the third seed in the northern division upset second south seed North Carolina A&T in the quarterfinal match at the MEAC Volleyball championship. Sophomore Cassandra Joyner led the Lady Hornets with a double-double of 16 kills and 11 digs. Erica Tajchman and Ayana Dyette contributed two kills a piece for the Lady Hornets.
The Lady Aggies had three players post double-digit kill performances. Junior Aundia Gray led all with 18 kills, while hitting .371 from the floor. Stacey Malone led the Lady Aggies in the defensive effort with 23 digs.

Maryland Eastern Shore will face Delaware State in a semifinal match-up beginning today at 5 p.m. Delaware State leads the postseason series against Maryland Eastern Shore 6-3.
