Volleyball 11/12/2007 5:00:00 AM MEAC Media Relations MEAC Announces Volleyball Weekly Honors Florida A&M senior Iva Lakic was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Teammate Jovana Blazeski was named Rookie of the Week. Lakic (6-0, Sr., Valjevo, Serbia) averaged 17.6 kills and 9.6 digs per match and added three blocks, four assists and three aces last week. The outside hitter recorded back-to-back double-doubles in kills and digs during wins over North Florida (21 kills, 10 digs) and North Carolina A&T (19 kills, 12 digs). She followed with 13 kills and seven digs while averaging a .308 hitting percentage against South Carolina State.Blazeski (6-0, Fr., Belgrade, Serbia) recorded double-digit kill performances in three of the Rattlers matches last week. The outside hitter also averaged a double-double of 13.6 kills and 13 digs and added seven blocks, three assists and five aces to help the Lady Rattlers to a 3-0 mark. The wins against North Carolina A&T and South Carolina State extended their win streak to 99 matches against MEAC opponents. This is the fifth time this season that Blazeski has earned Rookie of the Week honors. Other Top Performers: Dominique Bozier (MSU) posted four blocks and three aces against Delaware State.Chantel Cherry (NSU) was 12-of-24 while averaging a .375 hitting average in a win over Winston-Salem State. Danielle Goodrum (B-CU) tallied career-highs of 20 kills and 23 digs in a match-up against the Lady Aggies.Esther Johnson (MSU) recorded her sixth double-double of the year with a match-high 27 kills and 10 digs against Delaware State.Kaiyana Johnson (B-CU) was 16-of-33 in two matches played last week. Monique Walker (SCSU) tallied five aces in a win over Coppin State.
