With three minutes left in the second half, the game was knotted at 42 all. The Lady Pirates would then surge ahead by five points before the dramatic closing minutes.

The crowd was all in it with under a minute-and-a-half left as the Hoyas inched within two points of the Lady Pirates. With 19 seconds left in the game, the crowd was on their feet and the Lady Pirates were up by two. Quanneisha Perry hit a crucial free throw and blocked the Lady Hoyas from scoring again. With 12 seconds left, Butler was on the free throw line, putting the Lady Pirates ahead by four. With two seconds left, the Lady Hoyas were on the free throw line making both shots and coming within two of the Lady Pirates.

For the game, Butler’s 16 points were augmented by Perry’s 13. Chinyere Ukoh led all rebounders with eight.
