MEAC ANNOUNCES CROSS COUNTRY WEEKLY HONORS

Florida A&M University senior YaTandrea Burke and Norfolk State University sophomore Jonathan Soimo were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Burke (Sr., Virginia Beach, Virginia) finished first among 45 runners and led her team to a first place finish at the Atlanta Classic Invitational, hosted by Clark-Atlanta University and Morehouse College with a time of 19:22.71. This was the fourth time this season that Burke has finished among the top five.

Soimo (So., Kapsabet, Kenya) ran a personal-best time of 25.09 at the William & Mary Inter-Regional Challenge. Soimo finished 19th out of 111 runners and helped his team to a sixth place finish.



Other Top Performers:

Rashad Burnett (NCAT) led his team to a second place finish at the Greensboro Cross Country Invite with a time of 27:00.4.

Carlos Franklin (FAMU) was the Rattlers top finisher at the Atlanta Classic Invitational with a time of 28:18.08.

Jessica Neal (How) was the highest finisher for the Lady Bison with a time of 23:38 at the Penn State Spiked Shoe Meet.
