SPORTS NETWORK NAMES DSU's GREEN NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The Sports Network has selected DSU cornerback Akeem Green as the National Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday’s win over Morgan State.

Green turned the game around for the Hornets, scoring the go-ahead touchdown on a 100 yard fumble recovery return. Trailing 17-16, DSU appeared to be on the ropes with Morgan State threatening to go up by eight points with less than 10 minutes remaining, when MSU running back Courtney Anderson was stripped of the ball just short of the goal line. Green scooped it up in the end zone and returned it 100 yards to put the Hornets ahead 22-17 with 9:11 left in the game. Green also finished the game with six tackles, three of them solo stops.
