MEAC Announces Weekly Honors

University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Merrecia James and Norfolk State University’s Dominic Luka were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

James (Jr., Portland, Jamaica) won the Delaware Invite with at time of 18:44. As a team, the Lady Hawks finished the 5K race in third place among 12 teams. This is the second time this season that James has won cross country weekly honors.

Luka (Sr., Marietta, New York) finished second overall out of 138 runners at the William & Mary Tribe Open. Luka’s time of 25-minutes is the fastest time for an 8K race in the MEAC this season.



Other Top Performers:

Jennifer Chichester (NSU) was the Spartans highest finisher at the William & Mary Tribe Open with a time of 23:16.

Cuquie Melville (DSU) ran a season-best time of 20:42 at the Delaware Invite.

Jahlisa Smith (Ham) finished among the top ten with a time of 23:03 in the 6K race at the William & Mary Tribe Open.

Peter Sang (UMES) won the Delaware Invite and led his team to a third place finish with a time of 25:53.
