University of Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore
Caylin Wodward was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
(MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Florida A&M University’s Jovana Blazeski was named Rookie of the
Week.
Woodward (6-0, So., Garden Grove, California) recorded her third
triple-double of the season with 10 kills, 10 assists and 12 digs in a
win over Hampton. The outside hitter added three aces and was 10-of-21
(.238) from the floor. The victory extended the Lady Hawks’ win streak
to 16 matches including a 7-0 run in MEAC play. This is the second time
this season that Woodward has earned player of the week honors.
Blazeski (6-2, Fr., Belgrade, Serbia) helped the Lady Rattlers extend
their MEAC win streak to 95 consecutive matches including a 4-0 record
this season with wins over North Carolina A&T and Norfolk State
last weekend. Blazeski recorded 12 kills, nine digs and one service ace
against the Aggies. She also posted six total blocks (two solo) and one
assist in the win. She followed that performance with her eighth
double-double of the year (14 kills and 10 digs) in a win over Norfolk
State. This is the third time this season that Blazeski has won rookie
of the week accolades.

Chantel Cherry (NSU) posted 10 kills, 13 digs, one assist and one service ace against South Carolina State.
Julie Gibson (B-CU) complied a team-high 40 assists and 29 digs against North Carolina A&T.
Esther Johnson (MSU) recorded her seventh double-double of the year (23 kills, 20 digs) in a win over Howard.
Iva Lakic (FAMU) recorded 16 kills and seven digs in a win over Norfolk State.
Sarah Wheatcroft (DSU) recorded a career-high hitting percentage (.529) against Coppin State.
Keisha Vicks (B-CU) recorded 25 kills on 70 attacks (.314) with only three errors to help the Wildcats to a 1-1 mark last week.
