Whitney Johnson was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
(MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Delaware State University’s Erica Tajchman was named Rookie of the
Week.
Johnson (6-3, So., Prince Frederick, Maryland) led the Lady Hawks to a
5-0 mark last week, including two conference victories, extending
Maryland Eastern Shore’s current win streak to 12 matches. The outside
hitter was named the MVP of the UMES Comfort Inn Classic after
recording 65 kills and 18 digs in four matches. This is the second
consecutive week and the third time this season that Johnson has earned
Player of the Week honors.
Tajchman (6-0, Fr., Omaha, Nebraska) averaged 12.25 kills and 10.5 digs
per match in four matches played last week. Tajchman recorded
back-to-back double-doubles in kills and digs in wins over St. Francis
(Pa.) and Robert Morris. This is the second straight week that Tajchman
has earned Rookie of the Week honors.

Ayana Dyette (DSU) tallied 15 kills and 23 digs in a win over Robert Morris.
Danielle Goodrum (B-CU) was 6-of-9 (.667) in a win over Winston-Salem State.
Jeniqua Moran (MSU) averaged 13.6 kills and 6.3 digs per match to lead the Lady Bears to three conference wins last week.
Shaylin Sommer (UMES) recorded eight aces in a win over Robert Morris.
Monique Walker (SCSU) tallied 15 kills and 25 digs in a win over Bethune-Cookman.
